Caption: The new batch of Youth Link Apprentices with Officials of the Ministry of Education and Republic Bank (Guyana) Limited.
Thirty-two Apprentices were welcomed into the fold of the Republic Bank family at the launch of the Bank’s seventh Youth Link Apprenticeship Programme on Monday, November 03, 2014 at the Georgetown Club, Camp Street, Georgetown. The programme commenced at 15:30h with a prayer, followed by speeches and cocktails.
This batch of thirty-two (32) Apprentices will be the first to benefit from the newly introduced Competency Based Education (CBE) programme. Republic Bank is being registered with the Council for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (CTVET) and is now able to offer and deliver Competency Based Education (CBE).
As Apprentices, these young men and women will be exposed to both classroom and on-the-job training. They will also be introduced to the element of care and compassion for the less fortunate, through the ‘Care-A-Van’ and will experience a day of fun and relaxation at a specially selected location.
At the end of the seven month programme, successful Apprentices will receive a National Vocational Qualification Certificate as a Certified Bank Clerk issued by the CTVET. The certificate can be used when seeking employment for certain entry level jobs.
The Youth Link Apprenticeship Programme commenced over two decades ago at Republic Bank Limited, Trinidad and Tobago and introduced in Guyana in 2008. The programme sought to bridge the gap between the end of the participants’ school life and the start of their career.
The programme is geared to guide the Apprentices through a process of personal and professional growth and includes facets that when combined, will teach the youths valuable skills for professional and social development.
Participants are enabled to be more marketable in their career pursuits and are also offered the tools and insights that they can only get on the job.
