Republic Bank (Guyana) Limited, on Thursday, June 27, 2019 celebrated the achievements of fifteen Youth Link Apprentices at a ceremony held at the Guyana Marriott Hotel.
The 11th batch of Apprentices were trained and provided with the tools to become part of the work environment and were attached to various branches across the Bank’s Network from November 2018 to May 2019.
Receiving knowledge in several areas of banking operations, the Apprentices were each tasked with preparing a Business Proposal, were exposed to coaching for Effective Presentations and they presented to a panel of judges on select topics.
During the seven month programme, the Apprentices also participated in Care-A-Van - community outreach initiative for the Ptolemy Reid Rehabilitation Centre; and an interactive session on First Aid facilitated by the Guyana Red Cross Society.
The Apprenticeship programme closed with a day of fun and relaxation for the young adults when they journeyed along the Essequibo River, with stops at Fort Island, Bartica, Bara Cara Falls, Saxacalli Beach and the Aruwai Resort.
During the course of the 7 month programme, each member of the group of Apprentices was continually evaluated on performance in several areas. This was facilitated by a team of Republic Bank (Guyana) Limited Assessors, trained by the Council for Technical and Vocational Education and Training.
Having completed the Apprenticeship Programme, the Apprentices will receive the Caribbean Vocational Qualification (CVQ) from the Caribbean Association of National Training Agencies (CANTA) in Banking Operations Level One. With this qualification the Apprentices will be eligible for jobs within the CARICOM Region.
