Communities Benefit From The Republic Bank (Guyana) Limited Power To Make A Difference Initiative

The third phase of the Republic Bank Power to Make a Difference Initiative for the next four years was launched at a special ceremony on Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at 16:00h at the Savannah Suite, Pegasus Hotel, Kingston, Georgetown.

This initiative which commenced in Guyana in 2003 focuses on making a difference particularly among Guyana’s youth and in communities through various projects undertaken in partnership with government ministries, charitable and educational institutions. In the previous two phases, over $200 million was expended on a range of projects.

Republic Bank (Guyana) Limited has committed over $150 million for this new phase and the recipients of the Bank’s support for 2014 -2018 are:

• Republic Bank RightStart Music Literacy Programme
• Republic Bank Mashramani Panorama Steel Band Competition

• Academic Achievement Awards for NGSA, CSEC and CAPE

• Youth Link Apprenticeship Programme

• Transportation for persons with disabilities

• Climate change mitigation and conservation in schools

• Promenade Gardens maintenance

• Biennial Republic Bank National Drawing Competition

• Sponsorship of the School for Autistic Children

• Rebuilding project

• Annual Corporate Sponsorship

• Scholarship of one student pursuing a degree in studies relevant to national development
• Awards for the Best Graduating Student in the Faculty of Social Sciences and the Best Graduating Student in Banking and Finance
• Sponsorship of Business Journals for the University’s library
• Career Coach – two day workshop for final year students at the university

• Working with Teen Mothers to overcome the challenges of early teen pregnancy

• Staff working on community projects across the Bank’s footprint
