Republic Bank U-18 School Football League Returns for Third Consecutive Year

Republic Bank (Guyana) Limited, in collaboration with the Petra Organization officially launched the third edition of the Republic Bank U-18 School Football League, reaffirming its commitment to youth empowerment and the development of grassroots football in Guyana.

The official launch, held at the Bank’s New Market Street location, brought together student representatives and coaches from the participating schools, along with key stakeholders including Mr. Suresh Singh, MP, Director of Youth, Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport; Dr. Toussaint Boyce, Managing Director, Republic Bank (Guyana) Limited; Mr. Troy Mendonca, Co-Director, Petra Organisation and Mr. Nicholas Fraser, Administrator, Unit of Allied Arts, Ministry of Education.

Scheduled to run from October 19 to November 29, 2026, this six-week tournament will see eight secondary school teams from across Guyana competing for top honours and the opportunity to participate at an international tournament in December.

Participating schools include Santa Rosa Secondary, Three Miles Secondary, New Amsterdam Secondary, Annandale Secondary, Chase Academic Foundation, Charlestown Secondary, West Ruimveldt Secondary and St. Joseph High.

Now in its third year, this partnership between Republic Bank and the Petra Organisation, with the support of the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport, provides an important platform for nurturing young football talent while instilling the values of teamwork, discipline, sportsmanship and resilience.

The tournament is part of Republic Bank's social investment programme, The Power to Make A Difference (PMAD), which reflects the Bank's continued commitment to communities across Guyana.
