The Republic Bank Mashramani Steel Band Competition 2016 showcased two days of keenly contested competitions.
On Thursday, February 25, 2016 at the Theatre Guild Playhouse, participants of the following minor categories competed:
- Junior Solo
- Senior Solo
- Pan Duet
- Pan Jazz
Meanwhile, on Sunday, February 28, 2016, the competition for Youth Bands and Large Bands followed at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.
Sponsored by the Bank for the eight consecutive year, this competition continues the Bank’s quest for the sustained development of the nation’s Steel Pan art form done annually in two areas; the Republic Bank Mashramani Panorama Steel Band Competition and the RightStart Pan Minors Music Literacy Programme.
These two sponsored events form part of the Bank’s ‘Power to Make a Difference’ initiative.
