Republic Bank (Guyana) Managing Director Retires, Regional Corporate Manager Appointed

Port of Spain, Trinidad: January 16, 2015: Republic Bank Limited has announced the retirement of Mr. John Alves, Managing Director, Republic Bank (Guyana) Limited effective June 30, 2015.

Mr. Alves, who was appointed Managing Director of Republic Bank (Guyana) Limited on April 9, 2010, has a distinguished career which spans 40 years. A career banker and a Fellow of the Institute of Canadian Bankers (FICB), Mr. Alves’ passion for and commitment to the Bank, are well known, from his early days in the Inspection and Customer Service Departments, to his most recent tenure as Managing Director of Republic Bank (Guyana) Limited.

Mr. Richard Sammy has been appointed Managing Director (Designate) of Republic Bank (Guyana) Limited. He is currently the Regional Corporate Manager, Corporate Business Centre (South). He joined the Bank on March 1, 2009, as Regional Manager, Investment Banking. Over the last six years, he worked on the financing of a number of major projects in several Caribbean territories and in Guyana.

Mr. Sammy holds an MBA from The University of Warwick Business School in the UK and a BSc (Hons.) in Management Studies from the University of the West Indies. He will formally assume the position on July 1, 2015.
