Republic Bank (Guyana) Limited Completes Houston Community High School Refurbishment

Republic Bank (Guyana) Limited officially handed over the newly refurbished Houston Community High School on Monday, June 1, 2009 at a special General Assembly.

The $1,400,000 project which was executed over the last five months saw the installation of new lockers and a donation of furniture for the staffroom as well as sixty pairs of desks and benches for the students. The school’s canteen was also refurbished and the fence repainted.

This donation was made under the Bank’s Power to Make a Difference (PMAD)community outreach initiative where the school was identified for assistance to empower its students to Learn and Succeed.

During the simple ceremony, the school choir sang the school’s song and the official presentation was made to Mr. Chetram Jaglall, Headmaster of the Houston Community High School and the students. The Ministry of Education representative Mrs. Lynette Browne Moonsammy, District Education Officer- Secondary Schools was on hand to receive the gift on the Ministry’s behalf.

The official presenters were Republic Bank’s Communication and Public Relations Officer, Mrs. Jonelle Dummett, assisted by Mrs. Ismelia Browne, Assistant Communication and Public Relation Officer.
