Hard Work And Commitment Achieves Outstanding Success

As a result of their hard work and dedication, Ms. Rebecca Persaud and Ms. Saudia Majeed have achieved their goal of academic excellence. Their outstanding performances and graduation from the University of Guyana in 2012 have earned them the following awards from Republic Bank(Guyana) Limited:

  • The Republic Bank Limited Chairman's Award for the Best Graduating Student with a Bachelor's Degree in the Faculty of Social Sciences was presented to Ms. Rebecca Persaud who was also the recipient of a monetary gift.
  • Ms. Saudia Majeed received the Republic Bank Limited Award for the Best Graduating Student with a Diploma in Banking and Finance. She also received a monetary gift.
  • These awards were made possible through Republic Bank (Guyana) Limited's Power to Make a Difference initiative and in partnership with the University of Guyana. This venture commenced several years ago and sought to ignite the potential of Guyana's youth through varying rewards and developmental programmes.

    This year's ceremony was held on Thursday, January 31, 2013 at the Republic Bank Limited Head Office, Promenade Court, 155-156 New Market Street, Georgetown.

    The University of Guyana continues to benefit from the Bank's social investment initiatives in areas such as the sponsorship of a student scholarship, subscription to business journals for the University Library and Career Coach which prepares final year students for the working world.
